I painted this original painting that this print was made from many years ago in acrylics on a little wood decorative plaque that I had bought from a craft & hobby shop.
Every fall I loved collecting miniature pumpkins and gourds and then posing my corn husk dolls beside them so I could paint them. I never tired of painting either my corn husk dolls or the dried corn whose husks were twisted and shaped to create the dolls.
As I painted them I inevitable remembered the day, though it was so many years ago, when I was in first grade, when a parent volunteer came to our class and taught us little children how to create dolls out of dried corn husks.
As I grew older the memory of how to make the dolls faded but never did the memory of creating them leave me, nor did the kindness of that parent sharing her knowledge, skill, and talent.
Love never dies, the Bible says, nor does its memory fade from our hearts. That parent shared her love of crafting art with us one afternoon and from that one act of kindness she inspired me to create many autumn still lifes using corn husk dolls and dried corn.
I think about her selfless act now to volunteer her time and talent to teach us, and about our Lord’s commandment to love one another as He loved us. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” – John 15:13
When we lay down our life, our dreams, our time, our agendas for others, we are living a life of love, the way Christ loved us.

As I look at my corn husk doll paintings and drawings that I have done over the years, I will always think of the selfless love that Christ calls us to because of that beautiful act of sharing from the parent volunteer so many years ago.
I print my “Corn husk Doll Autumn Still Life” on 8 1/2'” x 11” inch Premium glossy photo paper. The print is shipped in a protective clear plastic sleeve in a sturdy photo mailer. We ship my original art prints via USPS Priority Mail within 1-2 days of your order.
The image is watermarked on my Etsy site but your purchased print will not be watermarked. -

Custom and personalized orders
Custom orders are limited to selections from items that are already available in my shop. If you would like to choose your own personal assortment of encouraging cards, or make up a special gift box of greeting cards out of any of my cards that you have selected from my shop, then convo me and let me know about your special order. I will create for you just the box of cards that you select!
Custom Gift Sets
Gift Sets: if you would like to create a gift set out of a set of music albums, books, prints, cards, or anything that you see in my shop that is not offered as a gift set, then please convo me and we can arrange for your special order. We will charge your shipping as one item since it is one set, not multiple items.
Direct Checkout & Quick Sale for Local Buyers
Direct Checkout & Quick Sales on Etsy using the Etsy Card Reader are available to my local buyers who choose to make purchases using their approved credit card, cash, or check.
